Council calls for submission of tenders
IMPROVEMENTS are coming to Barnstaple Pannier Market and North Devon Council is calling on contractors to submit tenders to complete the work.
In a significant milestone for the Market Quarter project, the council has put out a tender for works to make improvements which include the internal and external refurbishment of the historic Market Hall, the reconfiguration of toilets, offices and stores and the external refurbishment of the Guildhall.
Work will start in January 2023 and as part of the tender process the council is asking for a detailed programme to be submitted. Tenderers should seek to minimise the impact on traders, neighbouring businesses and the wider town.
Lead member for regeneration at North Devon Council, Councillor Malcolm Prowse says: “This is a really significant milestone for the Market Quarter project, as all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes will become more visible to residents, the business community and visitors to North Devon.
“We are calling on contractors, both local and national, to submit tenders and bid to become part of an incredibly exciting project for our town and district.”
The Market Quarter regeneration project was developed following a successful bid for a share of the Government’s Future High Streets Fund. The £11million project seeks to enhance the quality of the town centre experience and the variety of offer, increasing cultural activity and improving access through all modes of transport.
The deadline for the invitation to tender is Friday, November 18, 2022 at 12pm. Interested parties can submit a tender online.
