End-of-year sale is largest and most interesting one of the year
THE end of year sale at Plymouth Auction Rooms will be the one of the largest and most interesting sales of the year, according to auctioneer Paul Keen.
“We are delighted to offer a most eclectic auction of antiques, silver and collectables, to round off what has been a strong year at the saleroom,” says Paul.
In time for the Christmas table are a handsome pair of Victorian Corinthian four branch candelabra. These rarely appear at auction and should comfortably sell for £1,500-£2,000.
If it’s a table that you are after, how about an early 20th century mahogany extending dining table that will sit ten? Then you will also be able to bid for a pretty set of eight mahogany framed dining chairs to match, all at affordable estimates.
For after dinner fun, lot 181 is a rare and well kept Victorian Royal Cabinet of Games (pictured), in figured walnut case, the hinged lid enclosing an interior fitted with a chess set, backgammon, checkers and a steeplechase game, with a tooled gilt-leather games board.
For the art collectors there is an interesting collection of seven works by Roland Lucien Queney (19101996). Very little is known about the Birmingham-based artist, but his mixture of naïve and surrealist styles is certainly eye catching.
With such a wide range of collectables on offer there really is something for everyone.
Collectors of diecast models will have well over 100 models to bid on, including bronzes and collections of Moorcroft pottery.
There will also be over 100 lots of jewellery, gold, silver and ‘cabinet’ lots.
All lots can be viewed online and at the saleroom, simply search Plymouth Auctions or call 01752 254740 for details.
