Ferry staff ‘abused’ over service delays

-

A tearful Torpoint Ferry worker “broke down” after claiming she was abused by angry motorists stuck in queues. Ongoing maintenance problems with the service has left drivers stuck for hours, often due to only one ferry operating during the busiest periods. Tamar Crossings has said that although there has been a “fairly high level of abusive language from a small minority“, there have been no “physical threats” reported to management.

One woman said she had to console a member of the Tamar Crossings staff. The motorcyclist, who wished to remain anonymous, said:

“She literally broke down and I told her to come over and I gave her a big hug. She said that people were abusing her because of the delays.”
