Saddened by terrible waste of life
When I was a child a car hit a horse just down the road from where I was playing.
I was shooed off by adults, but the blood and the suffering of the beast had a profound effect on me, as have the pictures of horses in battle ever since.
I visit battlefields when ever I am able to pay my grateful respects, while I see the loss of men and their animals as a terrible waste.
