BEST OF THE REST

THE HEIST Sky One, 9pm

A BIT like Celebrity Hunted, this sees 10 law-abiding citizens given the chance to pull off a heist.

In this bizarre, but strangely compelling game show, the team is given the opportunity to steal £250,000. But they will have to hide their stash of cash from a crack team of determined detectives for 16 days if they want to keep it. What follows is a game of cat and mouse as they try to evade capture.

In this episode the players meet and pore over the photos, blueprints and maps which explain where the cash will be. Then they plot their transit van raid.

It’s a bit like watching a poor man’s Ocean’s Eleven. Especially since the most criminally-minded any of them has ever been was stealing pick and mix sweets from Woolworths as a child.

Do they have what it takes to be robbers? It will be fun to find out.

THE SINNER Netflix

FANS who have already seen this after it aired a few weeks ago in America have been raving about this second series. Starring Bill Pullman as Detective Harry Ambrose, inset, it’s a dark and twisty thriller, with elements of horror and the supernatural, too.

This new story sees the cop lured back to his hometown in rural New York to help investigate a double murder with an old pal’s daughter, Detective Heather Novack (Natalie Paul).

A couple have been found dead, apparently poisoned, in a motel room. The killer? Their 13-year-old son Julian. “It wasn’t supposed to hurt,” he says, in chilling and unsettling scenes.

But details emerge that make this even more complicated. They were going on a trip, but hadn’t packed for him. What were they planning to do with him, and what is he hiding?

A gripping, hide-behind-the-cushions mystery.
