Big increase in UK distillery businesses

Increasing demand for craft spirits has led to a big rise in the number of distillery businesses across the UK, a new study reveals. The number has jumped from 131 in 2016 to 170, according to a report by accountancy group UHY Hacker Young. Spirits of unusual flavours have grown in popularity, particularly among young people, it found. Previous research showed an increase in gin but there has also been a rise in craft rum sales, the study indicates.
