Dog put to sleep after falling down cliffs

-

A dog died on Saturday after falling down cliffs in Cornwall. Portreath coastguards were called at 8.30am to a spot near Hell’s Mouth to rescue a spaniel that had fallen over 300ft cliffs. The dog was on a ledge 80ft down and had been badly injured in the fall. It was taken to a veterinary surgery after being brought up the cliffs in a special dog rescue bag, but it had to be put to sleep after it was found to have broken its back in two places. All dog owners are warned to keep dogs on lead near cliffs.
