Vicar’s proroguing views inappropriate
I THOUGHT the notion that the Church of England was the Tory party at prayer was something from the dim and distant past.
That was until I read the Rev John Ewington’s letter. In my view it is quite inappropriate for a minister of the Church of England to be uttering such statements as ‘suspending parliament is the only way of respecting democracy.’
Many people will consider this not only offensive but unchristian in sentiment.
Please could the Bishop of Exeter reassure us that it is not the policy of the Church of England to undermine democracy.
Otherwise I think some awkward questions may well be asked about its status as the Established Church.
