Hoping to improve rural bus services

BUS services in Devon, and I am sure in other counties, are very poor for villages and small towns.

Apart from Ilfracombe, Braunton, Barnstaple, Fremington, Bideford, Appledore and Westward Ho! whole communities are left without buses in the later part of evenings and are completely bereft on Sundays.

Indeed many quite substantial settlements have either no buses at all or one a week. This was not always the case.

I have therefore booked Room 3b of Barnstaple library from 11am to 2pm Saturday,October 19 to enable people to get together to see if and what can be done to remedy the situation.

I have contacted every town and parish council in the area covered by North Devon and Torridge councils to see if there is any interest and will be getting in touch with other interested parties. I ask readers to let me know if they wish to attend.
