Grant and Telford are back on duty

MANAGER Ryan Lowe has reported that he has a fully fit squad for Plymouth Argyle’s League Two away game against Port Vale tomorrow.

Strikers Joel Grant and Dom Telford have both returned to full training this week, after hamstring injuries. With defender Will Aimson also back in action after a pelvic problem, Lowe has a full complement of players to choose from.

Grant and Telford will significantly increase the competition for places in Argyle’s attack.

Lowe started with Ryan Taylor and Byron Moore up front for the 2-2 draw with Oldham Athletic at Home Park last Saturday. He can also call upon on-loan Rangers striker Zak Rudden and promising first-year professional Klaidi Lolos.

Moore has scored a goal in each of his last two games, after putting a hamstring injury behind him. He will hope to add to that tally against Port Vale, who are one of his former clubs.

Lowe said: “When you’re in that little bit of a rich vein of form, and you’ve scored two in two, you want to keep continuing that.

“It’s always the same and Byron will be looking to do the same, but we’ve got plenty of players – we’ve got Joel and Dom Telford back now as well, so we’re fully fit.

“Whatever players are out there, they know they’ve got to be doing a job, otherwise there is someone next in line to take their place,” the former Bury boss added.

“Byron is no different to the others but, if we can keep him on a rich vein of form, scoring goals, then we will all be happy.”

Grant has been out of action since the 1-0 home League Two win against Colchester United on August 10. Telford suffered a similar hamstring injury a fortnight later, in the 3-0 League Two victory over Walsall at Home Park.

Lowe said yesterday: “They trained yesterday. It was good, nice to have

them back and bubbly around the place. They worked hard and there were no issues, so they will be available for Saturday.”

Aimson played for an hour in the Pilgrims’ 0-0 Central League draw away to Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday afternoon. That was after he made his comeback from injury in the first half of the Leasing.com Trophy group game against Bristol Rovers at Home Park last week.

Lowe said: “We’ve got a fantastic squad with some fantastic players. It’s nice to have the lads back.

“Will is now, I would say, not far off full fitness. He’s feeling good every single day.

“In the game he played the other day, he was terrific. Him and Sarce [midfielder Antoni Sarcevic] were two outstanding performers, and young Adam Randell.

“I’m really pleased with them. We’ve got a nice squad to pick from for Saturday.”
