Parkway film helps to attract players

-

PLYMOUTH Parkway manager Lee Hobbs feels the fascinating documentary charting the club’s progress throughout the 2019/20 season played a large part in him luring six ‘marquee signings’ to Bolitho Park.

On Wednesday, the club announced that Stevie Colwell and Mikey Landricombe were returning to the club from Tiverton Town, while Ryan Richards and Matt Wright were joining from Saltash United and Taunton Town respectively.

Willand’s Callum Hall and Truro City’s Harrison Davis complete the incomings, while Aaron Bentley, Jordan Copp,

Craig Duff, Jack Calver and Adam Carter will leave the club.

All featured prominently in the excellent documentary produced by Marjon student Mike Parrish, called ‘Round Our Way’ and Hobbs believes that exposure and insight into life at Bolitho Park was key to them agreeing to join the Western League side.

“What I have signed is future football. It’s the next level. They are all geared and all young enough to take us to where we want to go,” Hobbs said.

“They are brilliant signings and signings that we perhaps shouldn’t have in the Western League and do you know what, I think the documentary played a part.

“That documentary portrays us in such a good like, I think they look at it and think: ‘hang on a minute, I want a bit of this.’

“The football fraternity is very close, everyone knows everyone and is in contact and I had countless text messages and phone calls to say that it is absolutely brilliant.

“It was unreal, but they all got the gist of it and I do believe it played a part in it. Ultimately, I deliver a speech that gets a player on board in terms of our ambition and identity, but it is brilliant and people want to be a part of it.”
