LPG option for new Dacia Sandero

THE new Dacia Sandero will remain Britain’s cheapest new car when the latest model arrives early next year priced from £7,995.

It’s slightly larger Stepway cousin with more SUV-like styling will cost from £10,995.

Both are due to be on the road by April 2021 and come with smoother styling lines. An electric boot release features on most models as well as new look door mirrors for better aerodynami­cs and less wind noise.

A new feature being introduced by Dacia is what it is calling Flexwheels which include a special trim to make them look like alloys.

The Stepway comes with extra body cladding and metal skid plates and sits 174mm than the regular Sandero.and has roof rails that can be converted into a roof rack that can carry loads of up to 80 kilos.

An LPG bi-fuel powertrain is also being included in the UK line up for the first time and will cost from £10,395.

With a range of more than 800 miles on full tanks, the bi-fuel car has a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine and emissions as low as 109g/km.

Best fuel return is rated at 52.3mpg and it can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in 11.6 seconds making it the quickest of the range. The gas tank is fitted into the car’s spare wheel well.

Other engines in the line up are an SCe 65 and a turbocharg­ed TCe 95 block which can be had with a CVT gearbox as well as a six speed manual transmissi­on. The SCe engine has a five speed manual box.

The CVT auto is priced from £10,995 in the Sandero and £13,795 in the Stepway. Boot capacity of both is 328 litres.
