THE GOES WRONG SHOW: THE NATIVITY
BBC1, 7pm
FROM the Archangel Gabriel who appears to be a Catherine Wheel to a baby Jesus being eaten by a sheep, this is the ultimate Nativity that goes wrong.
Presented by the fictional Cornley Dramatic Society, a cast including Henry Lewis, Jonathan
Sayer, Nancy Zamit and Bryony Corrigan play out the greatest story ever told in the worst way possible. As ever, it all soon descends into chaos.
An ingenious pop-up book set proves a physical danger to both cast and crew, the actors inside a donkey have a terrible falling out resulting in unnecessary nudity and there is much more fire than anyone anticipated.
The fire alarm goes off at inopportune moments, sending the cast of shepherds into a panic.
There’s the mysterious appearance of a cactus. The props don’t work. The costumes go wrong. And there’s a constant air of un-festive tension.
Lots of mischief that’s all good fun from this comedy troupe.
