Torquay could face Yeovil derby in Trophy

-

TORQUAY United could face Westcountry rivals Yeovil Town for a third time in just a couple of weeks following Monday’s FA Trophy draw.

The Fulls booked their place in round four with a narrow 1-0 win at Chesham United on Saturday courtesy of Josh Umerah’s goal shortly after half-time.

Yeovil are still yet to play their third round clash at Boreham Wood, with the game scheduled to be tonight and the winners of that game will play host to Gary Johnson’s Gulls on Saturday, January 16.

Torquay are already scheduled to host Darren Sarrl’s side at Plainmoor at 3pm on Boxing Day with the return match at Huish Park on Saturday, January 2. Now they could face a third clash if Yeovil are successful against Boreham Wood tonight.

The prize for the winners of the fourth round clash stand to win £5,250 with £1,500 going to the losers.

Meanwhile, promising Plymouth Argyle midfielder Adam Randell continues to gain valuable first team experience during his loan spell at Torquay.

The 20-year-old has been a regular for the Gulls since signing for them, initially on a one-month basis at the start of October.

It was later extended until mid-January as Randell made a positive impact for Torquay in central midfield.

There was a new role for the Pilgrims’ academy graduate when the Gulls played at Chesham on Saturday, however.

Johnson made five changes to his side for the visit to the

Southern League side and it resulted in Randell playing out of position at right-back instead of midfield.

Randell showed his versatility by putting in a good performance as Torquay won 1-0.

Argyle manager Ryan Lowe watched Randell in action for the Gulls in their 2-1 home win against Maidenhead earlier this month.
