Tide claims tractor during whale retrieval
A TRACTOR has been washed up into the sea at Perranporth beach in Cornwall, after trying to retrieve a whale carcass.
Crews from St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue team were called out on Boxing Day to a report of a whale and a tractor on the beach.
When they arrived, they found that the remains of a 2.5-metre whale and a tractor had become stuck on the beach.
Local officials had been attempting to remove the carcass when the tractor being used for the retrieval became stuck in the sand as the tide approached.
It led to the tractor being abandoned, with the team from the coastguards ensuring everyone had made it to safety, with the tractor set to be recovered at the next low tide.
A spokesperson for the St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue team wrote on Facebook that the team was “stood down and returned to station.”
