NOT GOING OUT
BBC1, 9pm
THE gag-filled sitcom is back for a festive special, in advance of the new series which starts next month.
It’s New Year’s Eve and everyone is gathered at Lee (Lee Mack) and Lucy’s (Sally Bretton) house for the celebrations; her parents, his dad (the much-missed Bobby Ball) and their best friends.
We won’t hold it against them that that’s far too many households to be mingling and bubbles don’t extend to New Year, as even if they’d written and filmed this a week before it’d have ended up being out of date.
There’s not much seasonal cheer and goodwill to all men in the air, as a game of Who Am I? brings out the worst in everyone. Mild-mannered Toby (Hugh Dennis) suggests
they should ditch the parlour games in favour of discussing New Year’s resolutions.
Although when they start setting them for each other things get even more fractious…
