Exmouth killing – woman in court

A 51-YEAR-OLD woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of her partner.

Tanya Hoskin was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday after 54-year-old Nigel Johnston’s body was found at their home in Exmouth.

Police said he had been stabbed and ambulance staff called the police when they arrived at the house in Tennyson Way in the Brixington area of the coastal resort at 9pm on Sunday night.

Hoskin, wearing a grey top and bottoms, appeared in the secure dock at Exeter Magistrate­s’ Court where she faced the charge of murder.

The blonde haired defendant has also been charged with four counts of assaulting police officers after her arrest at the police station.

She was remanded in custody and will appear via video link for a bail applicatio­n before a judge at Exeter Crown Court today.

No details of the alleged murder were outlined in court.

Hoskin, wearing a blue face mask confirmed her name, age and address during the fiveminute hearing as three family members sat nearby in the public gallery. She replied ‘thank you’ as the magistrate­s remanded her.

A preliminar­y case management hearing has also been set for January 28.
