MORE than ten million of us tuned in to Quiz, the fantastic drama which told the story of the man dubbed ‘the Coughing Major’ in the early days of lockdown, last April.
Charles Ingram won the £1million prize on ITV’s biggest quiz show in 2001, but immediately afterwards the whole thing developed into a huge scandal.
Claims arose that Charles had cheated, having been assisted by strategic coughs from another wannabe contestant in the studio, possibly recruited to help by Charles’ wife Diana.
It ended up in court, where Charles was found guilty, although the couple still strongly protest their innocence to this day.
