PM warned over bureaucracy
BORIS Johnson wants to “blast away bureaucratic obstructions” in order to aid the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, amid warnings volunteers are facing a mass of “political correctness” and forms.
Conservative former cabinet minister Dr Liam Fox, a qualified but nonpractising doctor, asked why he was being asked to complete courses on “conflict resolution, equality, diversity and human rights, moving and handling loads and preventing radicalisation” in order to give the jab.
Mr Johnson told the Commons there was a need to “blast away bureaucratic obstructions, and I’m proud to say we’ve vaccinated more than any other country in Europe. But that pace must not only be kept up but... it must now be accelerated.”
He added that he has been “assured by the Health Secretary that all such obstacles, all such pointless pettifoggery has been removed”.
