Nearest ‘super-jab’ centre in Bristol

DEVON and Cornwall has been excluded from a list of new ‘super-vaccination’ centres that will open next week. The government has announced details of seven huge Covid vaccination centres, the nearest to Devon being Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol.

The conference and sports centres will be staffed by a mix of NHS staff and volunteers, and add to 775 GP-led centres and 207 hospital sites due to open by the end of this week. Not all seven will open on Monday – exact opening dates are still to be confirmed. More “super” centres may be announced in future.

No 10 said Armed Forces will be available to help with the vaccine rollout, but did not give details on their role. The seven centres are: Stevenage, Excel Centre London, Centre for Life Newcastle, Etihad Centre Manchester, Epsom Downs racecourse Surrey, Ashton Gate Bristol, Millennium Point, Birmingham. It is thought the centres will be appointment-only.
