Retirement flats ready for owners by Spring ’22

- WMN REPORTER wmnnewsdesk@reachplc.com

MCCARTHY Stone is predicting a May 2022 opening date for its latest development in the Westcountry.

The company’s new Retirement Living Plus development, on South Street in Taunton, has now been given a name, Kingfisher Court, and apartments will start to be sold off plan in November 2021.

It says Kingfisher Court was named after “the diverse array of wildlife that can be found in Taunton, River Tone and the surrounding areas of Quantock, Blackdown and

Brendon Hills.” A computer generated image of what the completed development will look like (pictured above) was released this week.

Nicki Beswarick, Divisional Marketing Manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “We wanted to choose a name for our new Taunton development that was not only meaningful, but would also resonate with local people and future McCarthy Stone homeowners.

“We took inspiration from Taunton’s vast collection of wildlife, which can be found within parks, close to the canals and rivers and across the town.”

Once complete the company says

Kingfisher Court will provide the over 70s with everything for an enjoyable and independent retirement.

Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an Estates Manager and experienced team will be on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs, in what is being seen by many as the future of retirement living for those in later life.

The development will feature a large homeowners’ lounge where residents can meet, and an on-site bistro, serving fresh meals for homeowners every day.

Apartment buyers will also be able to choose from a range of purchase or part-buy, part-rent options.

McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, is one of the major providers of retirement homes for independent living and say that their research shows more than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend.

It has received the full Five Star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 15 years’ running.
