Refugee camp is hit by serious fire

-

A FIRE has raced through a sprawling Rohingya refugee camp in southern Bangladesh, destroying hundreds of homes, officials said yesterday.

No casualties were reported, but the UNHCR said more than 550 homes sheltering about 3,500 people as well as 150 shops were totally or partially destroyed in the fire, which broke out early yesterday in Nayapara Camp in the Cox’s Bazar district, where more than a million Rohingya refugees from Myanmar are staying.
