Couple’s month in a tent

-

A FARMING couple from Cornwall are sleeping in a tent every night throughout January to help raise funds for the St Petrocs homeless charity after they rescued a young couple who were living rough on Bodmin moor.

Simon and Debbie Andrews, who have run South Torfrey organic farm at Golant for 25 years, were forced to cancel plans for a John O’Groats to Land’s End fundraising walk and are now doing it ‘virtually’ in line with lockdown guidance.

They’ll be striding out from home every day in January, completing the trail virtually via an online app, counting every step taken within the local area.

Each night they return to their tent, erected in their vegetable patch and are sleeping out in the cold this month.

Debbie Andrews said: “It’s so cold and wet out there but for some people this is what they experience every day. We are lucky just to be doing it for one month.”
