Congestion charge is outrageous decision

-

IF you live in the south of Bristol, the introduction of a £9 congestion charge for driving around in our own city is an outrageous decision.

I would like Mayor Rees, or anyone from Bristol City Council, to explain why they want to persecute the people living here. It is already difficult to drive into town from the south, because of the roads cars are now banned from and, I understand, with more road bans to come.

What have we done that is so wrong? There are many people who already struggle to get by and now you want to stop them from using their cars which, for many, are essential.

‘Get on the bus’ I hear you say, or use a bike, or walk. Not everyone can do so and who wants to get on a bus during this pandemic?

I certainly won’t, and seeing the buses every day in Ashton, no one else is either!

Traffic has reduced massively as people have had to change the way they go about their lives, so the charge is both unnecessary and totally unfair.

We have an election in May, so I suggest you scrap any thoughts of the charge.
