Too much tech, not enough comms
I AM an 82-year-old widow living alone in a country village. I have not yet been contacted regarding a Covid jab. My only source of information is the local press. I have a telephone landline and an iPad. I can email, but my tech knowledge is otherwise practically nil.
I have kind neighbours and family who cannot see me as much due to present restrictions. Why would I want a mobile phone? Why would I text? It seems to me that in these days when means of communication are more prolific it is actually worse than previously when less was available.
Lack of civility is one cause. One now has to assume messages have been received as they are rarely acknowledged.
I expect to be contacted eventually by some means. However, having a surname that puts me near the end of the queue alphabetically is a distinct disadvantage!
