Meghan’s dad is planning to air his troubles on screen

-

MEGHAN MARKLE’S estranged father, Thomas, is making a documentary about his life, in the hope of helping him “figure out what went wrong” in their relationship.

The Emmy-winning retired lightning director has not spoken to his daughter since her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.

The 76-year-old has revealed how he is working with a filmmaker and hopes to complete the project later this year.

“It begins with my life, my family, my love of theatre and television and how I got there. Then my life with Meghan, growing up, her school days until she went off to college, and when her career began,” he said.

“We had a good life together, up through her first marriage and her move to Canada. Then a new story begins. It’s kind of like, ‘What happened to my baby girl?,’” he added.

Thomas is set to be a British newspaper’s star witness in their legal battle with the Duchess of Sussex, 39, after she sued over the publication of a letter she sent to him.

Only on Tuesday, he told the High Court he “still believes” his daughter wanted “her account” of a letter she sent to him to be made public.

In a statement he said it was “not an attempt at a reconciliation” between the pair, adding: “It actually signalled the end of our relationship.”

The last line of the letter Meghan wrote was read out by her lawyer in court for the first time.

It revealed she said: “I ask for nothing other than peace. And I wish the same for you.”

It seems her allowing her friends to speak to an American magazine about the letter’s very existence in the first place did anything but bring the peace she hoped for.
