THE CHASERS ROAD TRIP: TRAINS, BRAINS & AUTOMOBILES
ITV, 9pm
QUIZZERS Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace have become beloved by fans thanks to hit series The Chase.
Now they’ve been allowed out of the studio to embark on an investigation into intelligence.
“Intelligence defines who I am,” says Mark, perhaps the most competitive of the three.
“You’ve always got to push the boundaries of trying to learn,” adds Shaun.
It’s a fascinating excursion into why some of us are more clever than others, if animals are smarter than we think and if human intelligence is about to be overtaken by robots.
There’s the added fizz of competition as the Chasers are constantly pitted against each other.
In this first part, they’re in America to pit their wits against Kanzi, a Bonobo ape who understands English.
They also meet a chimpanzee memory wizard, a 25-year-old gamer orangutan called Katie and that wellknown genius of the ocean, the dolphin. Next week, their mettle is tested by the UK’s brightest kids.
