SHE’S got a new blonde bombshell haircut, but Marcella (Anna Friel) is still the same ruthless, damaged copper.

A faint scar reminds viewers of a past self-loathing run-in with a pair of scissors.

As this third series begins, Marcella is working undercover in Belfast, having taken on the identity of Keira Devlin.

She has infiltrated the infamous Maguire crime family and has started a relationship with Lawrence, the family’s accountant. But wanting to ingratiate herself deeper into the family, Marcella informs the Maguires that Lawrence is embezzling money and awaits the grisly fall out.

Watch out for plenty of new cast members, including Amanda Burton as Maguire matriarch Katherine, Aaron McCusker as Katherine’s son

Finn, Hugo Speer, reprising his role as Marcella’s undercover handler, and Kelly Gough as Katherine’s daughter Stacey.

With interweaving storylines on various criminal operations from human trafficking to drugs and violence, and rule breaker Marcella constantly putting herself in peril, it’s a murky, gripping thriller.
