President invited to visit school

THE headteacher of Truro primary school has invited the new American president and vice president to pay her school a visit during the G7 Summit and help inspire a new generation of young people.

Lara Jeffries, the headteacher at Tregolls Primary School – an academy – officially sent an invite to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the hope that either one of them can talk to her pupils and show them what it is possible to achieve with hard work and determination.

Speaking of the coronavirus crisis she said: “We have to remain positive and aspirational. We continue to provide joy and excitement for our children and hope.

“This week I invited President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to visit the school during the G7 summit. How wonderful would it be if they could visit and inspire a generation of children to take an interest in politics and the world they live in. We need to keep looking forward to a better future.”

The school, with 325 pupils, has seen about 100 children a day come in during lockdown.
