A welcome site? Marion McMullen finds out who is geared up for giving covid jabs
1 THE Black Country Living Museum, used as a set for BBC drama Peaky Blinders, opened its doors as a vaccination centre this week. The Victorian-era heritage site at Dudley has organised Peaky Blinders nights in the past allowing fans to walk in the footsteps of their favourite characters.
2 Newlywed pensioners Geoff Holland, 90, and his 86-year-old wife Jenny became two of the first to get the vaccine at a former wickes dIy store in Mansfield. Mr Holland said: “we’ve only been married five months. we had to try three times with the pandemic. we managed it on the third time.”
3 ASDA became the first supermarket to start giving jabs after transforming the clothing section of its branch at Cape Hill in the West Midlands. It operates the vaccination centre from an in-store pharmacy with qualified staff administering the jab to priority groups identified by the NHS.

5 BRITISH Prime Minister Boris Johnson headed to Barnet FC’s ground, the Hive, in north london to deliver doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine. Sporting venues across the country have been helping out in getting vaccinations to as many people as possible.
6 BATH Racecourse is one of the latest courses to be used for mass vaccinations. Liam Johnson, executive director of Bath Racecourse, said the site was “really pleased” to offer its facilities for vaccinations. “We hope that this will be of benefit to many people around the community,” he said.
7 A team of Network Rail staff including engineers, project managers and signallers banded together to help set up the new mass vaccination centre at westpoint exeter. workers from the company unloaded around 100 pallets of equipment from articulated lorries and then set it up inside the indoor arena and showground.
8 THE famous Winter Gardens in Blackpool, below, were also converted into a covid vaccination centre this week as well as Lancaster Town Hall as the rollout programme continues to ramp up. They are one of 32 new sites that have just opened across the country.
