Alleged stabbing – two are charged

TWO men have been charged with attempted murder after a 19-year-old was allegedly stabbed in North Devon on Saturday January 23.

The victim was left with life-threatenin­g injuries in an incident in Illfracomb­e shortly before 11pm. Devon and Cornwall Police officers were called to a car park near Bicclescom­be Park in the town.

The seriously injured man was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. He is said to be in a stable condition.

Now, 21-year-old Callum Pillman from Bideford and 29-year-old Shaun Taylor from Barnstaple have been charged with attempted murder, GBH and robbery.

The two men were due to make an initial court appearance before Exeter Magistrate­s’ Court.

North and West Devon Police Commander Toby Davies confirmed that the two suspects had been charged.

Posting on social media site Twitter, he said: “Investigat­ion update – Ilfracombe Biccleston­e Park Sat 23/01– two local males, 21yr old and 29yr old have been charged and remanded on attempt murder, GBH and robbery. Supt TD.”

Yesterday, Commander Davies confirmed that the injured man remains in a ‘stable condition’ in hospital.
