I can’t believe people ‘fear’ global warming

-

ACCORDING to a report in this newspaper, a survey said the majority (four fifths) of the UK population “fear climate change and believe it to be global emergency.”

Although I do accept that a number of people have concerns about climate change, I have little faith in survey results and there is plenty of evidence to show how totally inaccurate election polls have been in recent years.

It is also well known that the desired response to survey questions can be achieved in the way they are worded.

Even after taking into consideration the algorithms and the weightings used by the polling experts, to make such a sweeping statement that such a high number of the UK population “fear climate change” is questionable when 21,189 people took part in the survey.

That figure represents a mere 0.03% of the population.
