Now’s not the time for Covid carping

-

I AM not sure why Shaun Shute (letters Jan 28) does not just post a letter saying “I hate Boris” and be done with it. It might, though, just be worth pondering what the alternative might have been.

It would not of course been the suave, sophisticated and lugubrious (I’ve got all the answers) Sir Keir, it would have been one Jeremy Corbyn who couldn’t decide whether he wanted to vote to leave the EU or stay – so sat on the fence!

Mr McDonnell would be handling the Treasury and Ms Dianne (open borders) Abbott as Home Secretary. Does anyone seriously believe that the alternative government would have made a better job of managing the pandemic?

It is easy to criticise and no doubt mistakes have been made and there may come a time when it is appropriate for the Prime Minister to consider his position but now is not that time. Constant carping achieves little at a time when we need everyone pulling in the same direction.
