MEND IT FOR MONEY
Channel 4, 5pm
A SLIGHT twist on a popular format, this new daily show sees a team of makers and menders bring dilapidated items back to life.
However, the experts must pitch for the job and will receive a share of the item’s sale price for their work.
Owners must discern which restorers will do the best job and create the best profit for them both.
Yes, it’s basically a more materialistic version of The Repair Shop.
In this episode, Julie brings in a vintage rocking horse that’s more than 100 years old and has some serious battle wounds.
Competing for the job are woodworking experts Bruce Kenneth and Paul Commander.
But Julie is not impressed when Bruce says: “It looks like it has the soul of a Victorian child trapped in it somewhere. It’s creepy.”
No surprise who she picks.
Elsewhere, menders compete to restore a 1930s Post Office bicycle and a chair that’s also a toilet.
Tom Allen provides amusing voiceover.
