A: Clem had been sitting there quite a while, staring at his new watch. "Something wrong?" Mary asked. "No it's fine, a real beauty," her husband replied. "I was working out something. Seven minutes ago, the hour hand was one minute ahead of where the minute hand is now, and that's right on a minute mark." What was the time that afternoon?

B: "There was just £16.65 in that box the kids found in the attic," said Tom. "What say we let the three of them share it all?"

Mary smiled. "Good idea, but make it by ages."

"Of course, and that's what I've worked out," her husband replied. "Their shares will be in ratios of a quarter to a fifth to a sixth, and it does divide up exactly that way."
