Dog owner who failed to pick up pays out £885

-

THE owner of a dog who did its business outside a woman’s home has been fined almost £900, after the householder tracked him down and Plymouth City Council took him to court.

The woman spotted the dog defecating outside her house and waited to see if its owner was going to pick it up. When he did not, she approached him and offered him a poo bag. The man ignored her and walked away.

Not letting the matter drop, the woman followed the dog owner, worked out where he lived and reported the issue to the council, providing officers with his address.

The council slapped the man with an £100 Fixed Penalty Notice, but he failed to pay. Because of this, the man was taken to court, where he was found guilty and given a total of £885 in fines and costs.

Plymouth City Council has warned that it will continue to crack down on rule-breakers.
