Missing Sarah, 28 found, say police
AN endurance athlete who was missing for more than 24 hours has been found.
A major search operation was being carried out on Sunday for missing Sarah Thomson, 28, from Newquay. Search teams focusing on the Gannel Estuary area, included coastguards, police and helicopters.
Police sergeant Dave Pearce shared the news that Sarah has now been found, before going onto thank everyone who helped search for her.
Sarah recently completed a remarkable feat that saw her complete seven marathons in seven days for charity. She completed each marathon in less than four hours.
She has successfully competed in a number of sports including surfing and ultra marathons, ran 26.2 miles (42km) alone, every day for a week starting last Wednesday.
She said over the week the challenge had changed from something she was “using for my own head” to a “demonstration of how amazing people are” and how they are willing to support others.
Sarah said she hoped to raise awareness for Mind, but was delighted that people had also donated more than £5,000 to go to the mental health charity.
