Back-burning is an essential aid

THE Wildlife Trusts message is encouraging the UK to make the same mistake Australia made 10 years ago – following the Greens’ demand to ban back-burning!

Most estates, except for the Northern Territory where backburning is carried out, have suffered disastrous bush fires and are now reviewing policy.

In Australia, the native population are being brought in to advise on land management with focus on fire control.

Maybe the government should heed lessons learnt and not go stumbling blindly into following advice of Wildlife Trusts!
