Free broadband for families is sensible

The government has some serious questions to answer before we can be sure that its policy is the correct one.

JUST over a year ago, the Tory press demonised and vilified Labour for suggesting that the country should borrow £55bn to invest in public services while interest rates were at record lows of 0.1%.

The Tories damned Labour for thinking there was a “magic money tree” and for promoting free broadband for families – they called this “broadband communism”.

Turns out the Tory press was wrong on both counts! The Tory Government – elected on a basis of lies – has borrowed an eye-popping £200 billion for this crisis. And the idea of free broadband for families now seems very sound and sensible.

Tory newspapers are even running campaigns to raise money to buy pupils computers to use at home.

It just goes to show that some of the national tabloids are biased and full of political lies and rubbish.

Watch out! Thank goodness our regional press is not like that, and I hope it never will be.

The national Tory tabloids just can’t bring themselves to admit that Labour was right on some key things.
