Prince Charles honoured with coveted award
ITV, 9pm
FARMERS Weekly’s prestigious 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award has been won by the Prince of Wales.
Announced on Sunday February 7, this accolade is given to just one recipient a year in recognition of a unique and sustained contribution to agriculture, the countryside and rural communities.
Prince Charles was named the winner for his work as a tireless advocate for British farming, fighting to secure its future and championing change and innovation. It was also a reflection of the huge positive impact of the Prince’s Countryside Fund (PCF), the charity he founded 10 years ago, which has benefited thousands in rural communities including many in the South West.
Speaking via video message at the Farmers Weekly digital 2020 award presentation, he told viewers that he was “surprised and touched” to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
He said: “I firmly believe that the most profitable and constructive path for agriculture in this country will be through telling a unique story of high standards, of environmental sensitivity, animal welfare and food quality, while stressing local provenance, native breeds and sustainable management.
“This niche approach plays to our undoubted strengths as an island nation, as opposed to struggling to compete in global commodity markets.”
AFTER the heart-stopping cliffhanger of the last episode, there’s trauma after Med (Taheen Modak) was brutally hit by a car in the line of duty.
The cop had been getting a little too close to the truth when a car barrelled towards him, then ran back over him for good measure. No spoilers as to whether or not he survives, but needless to say, emotions are running high.
Lisa, played by Morven
Christie, continues to investigate the case of the murder of Stephen Marshbrook. As one suspect throws new light on the investigation, Lisa doubts she’s been given the full truth on events from the past.
Meanwhile, with the pressure building at work, boss DI Manning, played by Dan Ryan, attempts to fight for his marriage.
Elsewhere, Lisa finds solace in a place she least expected.
With an intriguing plot and characters to care about, this is a series worth investing in.
