Power is going to heads of EU chiefs

-

THE title on Michael Warne’s correspondence dated on the 9th makes my point beautifully: ‘EU is just protecting its own interests’.

It is what it has always done, it’s just unfortunate they hadn’t realised we had joined them!

In the early 1970s when I travelled in Europe (‘The Continent’ as we called it) businesses traded to and from Great Britain to Europe with ease, no customs problems, currencies were easily changed, British passports recognised, health insurance and driving licences dealt with easily.

Power going to the heads of EU bureaucrats aiming for ‘world domination’ is what ruined all that, and now we have left, albeit with a poorly negotiated agreement, those same bureaucrats are determined to make life as hard as possible, “pour décourager les autres” as the French would have it!

Personally I would prefer the idyllic 1970s pre-EU trading arrangements, but WTO rules would be better than the dogs’ dinner we now have!
