90-minute wait at Argyle was a disgrace
THE explanation given by a spokeswoman for the old and frail, of which I was one, having to wait 90 minutes at Argyle in the cold
(the BBC said the windchill factor was minus 6 degrees on Monday for vaccination is completely improbable. It has all the hallmarks of a weak implausible excuse.
Allegedly, the blame lay with those who turned up too early or came without an appointment. There might have been a few of those, but many hundreds, perhaps a thousand or two?
The queue, which the BBC estimated as half a mile long, was like it most of the day.
I believe it likely that the booking system allowed far too many to book. It was not their fault! It is shameful that the spokeswoman should seek to blame the blameless for system errors.
If I am wrong, let them clearly say so. But they will need to come up with a better explanation than the feeble one they have produced so far.
