Touching poem from days of old...

-

I CAME across this in an old book recently... A man who had lost his wife some years earlier was talking to his daughter, who had just told him she and her boyfriend would like to get married.

Her father reached into his desk and brought out a small box – it contained her mother’s wedding ring. Then he said:

It’s the ring your mother wore from the day that she took my name,

Just a plain gold band that I placed on her hand when my partner in life she became.

It’s a simple gift I know and my only hope will be

That it brings the joy to you and your boy that it brought to your mother and me!

Rather touching.
