City suffer early blow at Newport

EXETER City had defender Alex Hartridge sent off just nine minutes into their top of the table League Two clash at Newport County last night.

The young defender was adjudged to have brought down striker Nicky Maynard some 30 yards from goal with referee Tom Nield wasting no time in reaching for his back pocket and brandishing the red card.

However, Ryan Bowman struck to give the Grecians the lead on 22 minutes, but things took another turn for the worse when Bowman was sent off on the stroke of half-time for an apparent elbow.
