-

A MINI Cooper got stuck on a concrete bollard at a popular beach in Cornwall.

The incident unfolded at St Catherine’s Cove, Fowey, on Tuesday night when a 74-year-old man from St Austell appears to have misjudged a parking space.

He was subsequently arrested by police officers in connection with the incident and charged with drink driving.

The Mini was eventually removed by the police yesterday morning, according to locals. Pictures from the scene show that police cordons were still there earlier in the day.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police received reports at 9.30pm that a driver had wedged a Mini car on a concrete bollard at St Catherine’s Cove, Fowey.”

They said the driver was subsequently charged with drink driving and bailed to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on 5 March.
