‘Suspicious pair’ were delivering – not taking away

-

ALARM bells rang for residents of Nanstallan, near Bodmin, in the middle of the night when one resident spotted two men acting suspiciously in her garden.

It was 2.15am when she awoke to the sound of her back gate banging, while her neighbour’s ‘intruder’ light flashed on.

Two men wearing head torches and high visibility jackets were on the prowl, or so she thought. She then called police, fearing they could have been dog snatchers or thieves.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that officers attended but no suspects were located, no items were stolen.

The mystery was solved, howerver, later that day. Concerned residents started looking through security footage – and found the suspicious characters were milkmen making an early start on their rounds.

The woman said: “I think we have established that it was the milkman with a trainee. They were only there a short time, so probably just dropped off the milk and went.”

A spokesman for the firm, Kevin James Milkman, said the deliverymen were relieved not to have been taken away in handcuffs as they were only doing their job.
