Jabs should be legal requirement for all
IN Wednesday’s Letters, Ian
Phillips makes some claims that are incorrect in his letter regarding the possible introduction of ‘vaccination passports’. He states that those who choose to be vaccinated are protected against coronavirus. This is wrong. The vaccinations will not stop infection but will reduce the severity of infection, almost certainly preventing hospital treatment or worse. It appears Mr Phillips will not be vaccinated; will he also refuse any treatments should he be unfortunate and catch the virus? Somehow I doubt it. You are being selfish, Mr Phillips, by not taking responsibility for your own health and perhaps inflicting more work on to the wonderful NHS. It appears that you value your choice above the health and lives of others.
If you are truly worried about your erosion of freedom, as you claim, and wish to have your right to choose enshrined in law, I hope that the same law gives the NHS the right not to treat you for what could be argued as a self-inflicted infection.
In my opinion, vaccinations should be a legal requirement and anyone not taking the vaccine should be encouraged to take out health insurance, therefore taking some of the burden off the NHS.
