Bristol City board made wrong decisions

-

I FEEL so sorry for [recently sacked Bristol City Head Coach] Dean Holden. He was the wrong man for the job, from the outset.

But having selected the wrong man, the city board and playing staff failed to support him.

Player recruitment in the two windows of his tenure was poor. To date, Williams has in my view been a waste of money, and Lansbury does not seem up for the fight either.

Of the loan signings only Mawson has contributed enough. And his form was beginning to falter before injury.

The players who were pleased by Holden’s appointment were happy in their comfort zone, and have never been extended.

For the last few seasons we have not only sold our best players, but also our leaders (Flint, Smith, Brownhill, Pack). Now we have no one to lead the fightback.

Kalas, great player that he is, is not someone who will clench his fist and demand better on the pitch. We have too many lightweights now. We are sloppy in possession and passing. We give the ball away too easily.

Palmer, I feel, should never have been bought.

Forget about the injuries and start making the players really put a shift in.

By their actions, the board has now endangered all the advancement that was made in recent years.

And we are now in a serious position, relegation is close, as we seem to be unable to attack and cannot buy a goal.

Good luck to the new guy. He is going to need it to sort this lot out.
