Buyer register is ‘bulging’ amid demand for land and farms

SYMONDS & Sampson is offering free farm valuations for possible sales of farms, estates, smallholdings, land and rural properties with land.
Farmers and landowners across Dorset, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire are invited to take advantage of the offer.

Despite all of the turmoil and uncertainty that coronavirus and leaving the EU has created in the last 12 months, the property market across the UK has performed remarkably well. And this has been particularly true for the South West as buyers of homes and farms alike seek the wonderful and less densely populated counties that we live in.
People have also sought to invest in land of all acreages for a variety of reasons. Mr Tuffin added: “Even though support payments will be reducing and the shape of subsidies will change in future years, the demand for land and farms from farmers, investors, residential and conservation buyers remains strong and our buyer register is bulging.
“There is also plenty of speculation that the tax treatment of owning or selling land may change in the future to recoup burgeoning national debt. Therefore, those thinking of selling or transferring may wish to consider doing it soon.”
In 2020, Symonds & Sampson sold over 3,700 acres across five counties, which included a number of sales ‘off market’ when privacy has been an important consideration.
