Don’t be such a snob about taking on work
READING the article about flower growers not being able to find pickers for their crops reminded me of my son-in-law. He has been out of work for two years as he awaits a “suitable position” commensurate with his degree in History.
When I suggested that he sought a part time job during the run-up to Christmas in the Royal Mail sorting office, the looks of horror I got spoke volumes.
During my career, whilst awaiting assignments, I worked in a scrap yard, bale carting, rick building, potato picking and bagging, fruit picking, truck driving (I had the sense to get an HGV licence) then it was off back to being a Commercial Pilot again.
Now, at nearly 83, I do wonder about the attitude of people today.
